OUR STORY
Meet Heather
I’m Heather, a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) practicing since 2013. I began my career as a child and family therapist in community and county mental health, supporting young people and their families through complex challenges. Five years ago, I shifted my focus solely to eating disorders, disordered eating, and body image concerns. Since then, I’ve worked as an eating disorder outpatient therapist and in eating disorder higher levels of care (PHP and IOP), walking alongside clients as they reclaim peace with food and their bodies.
A little more about me: I’m a fat, white, cisgender woman in my 50s, and a part of the LGBTQ+ community. I bring both professional expertise and lived experience to my work. I understand how body shame, identity, and systemic oppression can shape mental health and how powerful it is to dismantle those narratives together.
I live on the Oregon Coast with my spouse and our goofy 100-lb Bernedoodle, Ziggy. Outside of work, I’m a bit of a hobby-hopper—dabbling in weaving, knitting, calligraphy, and other creative pursuits without ever really sticking with one long enough to get “good.” I also love beach walks with my spouse and Ziggy, camping and road trips, and planning (and enjoying) vacations both domestically and abroad.
I also want to acknowledge the layers of privilege I carry, such as being white and having had access to higher education. These privileges coexist with identities that have also brought marginalization, such as living in a fat body and being part of the LGBTQ+ community. Holding both truths informs the way I show up in my practice—with humility, curiosity, and a commitment to creating an affirming, liberatory space.
Rooted in Body Trust® and HAES® principles, I help clients unlearn harmful cultural messages, navigate midlife transitions, and build a compassionate connection with themselves. I believe healing is not about fixing yourself—it’s about returning to who you’ve always been. My role is to walk beside you with empathy, nuance, and unwavering respect for your journey.
Affirming, inclusive therapy for body trust, identity, and healing.
